Servant Leadership

The servant leadership idea is meant to be a creative outlet for our youth leaders to give back and serve their communities in a way that makes them feel passionate and fulfilled. It is unfortunate that a lot of today’s youth look at a service type project as nothing more than an inconvenient college application/resume stuffer. We hope to provide the opportunity for our youth leaders to find service projects that excite them and they can be passionate about. This means providing outlets to team up with other organizations, providing resources needed to succeed in the projects and helping formulate a roadmap consisting of the interests and passions of our leaders translated into service project ideas and opportunities.

Mentorship Program

The mentorship program is designed to connect our youth leaders specifically with local businesspeople and begin forming bonds between any given areas youth and business populations. By connecting these two groups of people it gives the youth leaders opportunities to enhance their leadership skills through real world work and volunteer experiences giving them an invaluable resource to fall back on during their future endeavors. Any opportunity for community engagement is viewed as not just luxury but a necessity in the eyes of YLY. In an age of exponential technological growth, the bridge between human interaction and digital interaction is becoming increasingly long. Our goal is to give today’s youth an opportunity to grow their networking and communication skills in the process of perfecting their leadership skills.
